You will only be safe if you succeed in shielding the largest percentage of your body. It is expected that you go for an outfit that covers the largest part of your body. The engineering of any cloth is the joining of fabrics. The difference between a good and a bad cloth is how strong the knitting of the fabric was done into making the clothes. If during the manufacturing the knitting was not perfect enough there will be a lot of microscopic spaces that will allow light to pass through making it useless.

Still on fabrics, the fiber that makes it will determine how best it is. Most of them have a natural capability to absorb the harmful sun rays hence improving their protective properties. Its good to note that synthetic fibers such as nylon are better than natural ones like cotton since they are good at reflecting the UV rays, yet the natural ones may go ahead to absorb the rays.

Experts normally advise one to go for dark colored wears because dark colors have been proven to have the ability to absorb the rays that want to penetrate through them onto the skin. Light colors are not good at playing this role since they will just reflect the rays and allow the excess onto a persons skin. If there are no spacing in knitting, it can offer the same security as the dark ones.

Determining how perfect clothes are in protecting someone by just feeling or observing is helpful but still its not enough. It is good that one is keen with the UPF ratings of the cloth to be selected. UPF rating is a laboratory test done to establish the percentage of sun rays that can penetrate into ones skin. Each cloth has a UPF tag on it. It is advisable to go for one whose value goes beyond 40%.
