The Doritos Locos tacos from Taco Bell are sure distinctive, being a taco with a Doritos chip shell. They also are a smashing success - besides selling almost 400 million of them, 15,000 careers were created as a result of the things.
Concept with Doritos
Amazon founding buyer Nick Hanauer was recently on those "TED" Talks. He explained that companies do not create jobs so much as consum-ers do.
Jobs are created by demand, so people have to demand thing if they want an increase chain of supply.
Apparently, executives were offended, so the footage was buried. You can still find it on YouTube though.
He had a point. Taco Bell just proved it. Ever hear of those "Doritos Locos" tacos, where they use Dor-itos chips to make a taco shell? According to the Daily Mail, they've proven so popular that it's added 15,000 careers to Taco Bell payrolls.
Over 300 million taco enthusiasts cannot be wrong
Granted, Taco Bell doesn't say exactly HOW 15,000 jobs were added by Doritos Locos. It does seem slightly ridiculous - is that 15,000 more people making the stuff for them? Does it consist of truckers, restaurant staff?
That aside, the delicious treats were a smashing success. After test runs in lim-ited locations went well, Taco Bell rolled them out nationwide. Over 2012, 375 million were sold and that many taco followers can't be wrong. It accounted, according to the Christian Science Monitor, for almost a quarter of Taco Bell's taco sales.
Launched last year with a shell made from Doritos' "Nacho Cheese" flavor chips, the next iteration were launched on March 7, according to the Los Angeles Times, with Doritos "Cool Ranch." Perhaps the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos will be just as huge a hit. Doritos Lo-cos also will not break one's personal bank; unit price are under $2 per. It's also a good choice if one is watching their calories. The Nacho variety packs 160 calories and 10 grams of fat; the Cool Ranch has 140 calories and 7 g.
Just a taco
Individuals have gone absolutely crazy over the Doritos tacos. It does not make any sense, but it is what people are doing. It was just like what happened with the McRibs, which were also gross.
Maybe this wonderful modern age IS that dull.
