Your Options For Enterprise Architect TOGAF Training

By Deana Norton

Companies who want to increase efficiency and enhanced productivity turn to an architecture and methodology framework. It is known as The Open Group Architecture Forum, identified as TOGAF, and can be learned through Enterprise Architect TOGAF Training. They have the opportunity of signing on for training sessions that are useful, helpful, and sometimes necessary, for first-time users. They come away with the requisite knowledge to move on to applying what they have learned, all the while enhancing their credibility and effectiveness during the application process of the software. In short, TOGAF is of major benefit.

To be effective and functioning, a user must take a training course. It is the best and perhaps only way to attain the requisite knowledge. This is not a new enterprise, but goes back several decades and was initially based on principles of the US Department of Defense Technical Architecture Framework for Information Management. TAFIM as it is briefly known, has undergone a few revisions since 1995 to come to the point where it exists today as version 9.1

In order to understand and use Enterprise Architecture, this course becomes a method of support for learning business modelling. Training of the complex software is pretty much mandatory to get it right. Thus, courses are available to do the job worldwide, and you don't even have to be an Open Group member. You do have to adhere to licensing requirements.

The typical student is an analyst who has a few options since the total course can vary in the order in which modules are taken. One can choose all or a part of the program as needed. It is basically a type of certification program that companies have come to require and it adds to users' credibility when in certain jobs. It may help to open up a new career to a beginner. No matter what road is followed, it is a two-part course of self-study and classroom instruction.

The version 9.1 Level 1 and Level 2 course lasts for 4 days and is done in a classroom setting. It's very hands-on and covers the entire framework, even if you have no previous knowledge. In this sense, it's very suitable for beginners. Throughout the course, the students will be given real-life and practical situations to work around, thus helping them to learn the application procedures of the framework. After the course, there is an examination which will earn the student's the certification once passed.

There is also a Level 1 and Level 2 course that is a hybrid of a classroom and e-learning setting. With this course, the student is free to learn the course content of the first level (just the basics) with the freedom of time and place. When advancing to Level 2, it is done in a classroom environment in order to prepare them for sitting the Level 1 and Level 2 exam.

You can do a bit of mixing and matching when training for TOGAF 9 as long as you get both the basics and the advanced applications. Studies can often study on their own time before the classroom situation. They can progress as rapidly as they like.

Alternatively, if the individual already has prior working knowledge of the basics and wants to expand this with more detailed courses on terminologies and strategies, the Level 2 classroom course is the perfect course. Again, there is an exam after the program for Level 2 certification. Whatever the individual's needs are, there are training courses that will help both the student and the company achieve its goals.
