Using Twitter To Market Your Videos

By Harriet Barker

Getting known on the internet is notoriously difficult. How do I market my video without irritating other online users? Do I really have to be apart of 'Team Follow Back' in order to achieve any amount of following online? Well perhaps not, though social media networking is key. Rather than targeting a mass of people with no interest in what you've got to say, it's a good idea to select your audience carefully. It's no good having a colossal database of followers if only a fraction of them are listening to what you have to say, so make sure you're targeting those who would be interested.

But how do we create the following in the first place? Well that's the question, there is no exact formula in how to develop a rapid Twitter following. I came across a Lambda films blog, a Norwich video production company, on the subject of marketing platforms with ways to promote your video, focusing on Twitter. It actually provides a few very useful ways which one might use to develop their following and how to use that following once it is secured. So although there is no exact method there do seem to be some techniques to help you on your way.

One way it lists as a serious benefit is to begin with finding influencers in your field of expertise. You can use various platforms to achieve this but personally I use followerwonk. Here you can see the authority scores for individual users and draw up an influencer 'hitlist' - those that you want to interact with. Once you have your influencers, try and cultivate a genuine relationship with them, based on mutual respect and shared knowledge. Doing this will earn you more exposure and promotion of your tweets, articles and videos.

It's easy to forget that you have followers once they are there, and you need to keep them there. In order to maintain your following, it's a good idea to produce regular and relevant posts. Look at the trending topics, so that you're up to date with what's going on on Twitter. Obviously, not every trend is going to be appropriate to your company, that is unless your business involves the marketing of One Direction, but it can't hurt to look at them. Adding hashtags for accessibility is very beneficial, relevant hash tags pull in a lot more attention. Hashtags are tools, use them.

Social networking is an incredibly valuable tool if you use it in the right way. To be honest I think it's now imperative for businesses to be all over it now. Twitter are providing significant and easy means of communicating with customers, clients and even other businesses. So we might as well learn how to use it to the best of our ability, otherwise we risk falling behind.
